What excellent items are

An item can have up to six of these blue options. The more options it has, and the better they are, the more the item is worth. A piece with two or three good options can sell for a fortune in jewels (the in-game currency you use to upgrade and trade gear).
The blue options stack on top of everything else the item already has: its base stats, its upgrade level (the +1, +2, and so on you add to make it stronger), and its extra option. So a fully built excellent item brings all of those systems together at once.
The blue options are decided by chance when the item drops or is made — you cannot just pick the ones you want. That is why certain combos (like extra HP plus damage decrease plus defense rate on armor) cost so much to buy.

Excellent vs ancient items
Excellent and ancient are both top-tier gear, but they work in different ways. Excellent items give you random blue options. Ancient items belong to a named set, and when you wear several pieces of that set you unlock set bonuses plus their own extra options.
Strong endgame builds often use both: an ancient set for the set bonuses, with excellent options added where they fit. On newer servers you can also add socket items for even more ways to customize your gear.
How to get excellent gear
There are a few ways to get your hands on excellent items:
- Monster drops: tougher maps and bosses drop excellent items straight off the ground. How often they drop depends on the server you play on.
