Editorial Policy

This page explains how MU Top 100 maintains independence, discloses sponsorships, moderates listings, and corrects errors. For the technical details behind rankings, see our Methodology.

Principles

Our editorial standards are guided by:

Transparency Fairness Safety Accountability

  • Clear labeling: Readers must be able to distinguish organic rankings from sponsored placements at a glance.
  • Separation of concerns: Sales and sponsorships never dictate organic rank order.
  • Right to appeal: Server owners can appeal moderation decisions with evidence.
  • Privacy-aware: We balance transparency with user privacy and site security. See our Privacy Policy.

Independence & Conflicts of Interest

  • No pay-to-rank: Sponsored products (e.g., visibility upgrades, banners) never alter organic rank order.
  • Conflict disclosures: Team members with any ownership/financial interest in a listed server must disclose it and recuse from related decisions.
  • Editorial firewall: Decisions about ranking rules and enforcement are made independently of sales relationships.

Sponsorships & Disclosures

We fund operations through clearly labeled placements. Labels appear on every page where the placement renders.

  • Sponsored: Paid promotional placements and banners. Improves visibility only.
  • Featured: Curated presentation modules that do not affect the underlying rank order.
  • Organic: The default, rank-ordered list determined by community votes with integrity checks.

Details on vote processing, anti-abuse, and resets live in our Methodology.

Moderation Standards

We review listings to protect players and ensure a trustworthy directory.

  • Accuracy: Season/version, EXP rates, wipes, region, and tags must be truthful and current.
  • Safety: Malware, phishing, or deceptive downloads are grounds for immediate removal.
  • Conduct: Hate speech, harassment, or incitement are not permitted in listings or linked communities.
  • Availability: Extended downtime or abandoned projects may be paused until resolved.
  • Abuse: Scripted voting, bot farms, or traffic laundering trigger discounts/penalties per Integrity.

When we take action, we aim to notify the owner with reasons and steps to fix issues.

Accuracy & Verification

  • Editorial content: Guides/news include bylines or team attribution and a visible last-updated date.
  • Source checks: We prefer primary sources (official patch notes, server announcements) and confirm claims where feasible.
  • Technical claims: Performance/player counts are presented with context and timeframes when available.

Corrections Policy

We correct mistakes promptly and transparently.

  • Report an error: Use the contact form or email [email protected] with the page URL, the issue, and supporting evidence.
  • Review window: We aim to review within a reasonable timeframe and confirm once resolved.
  • Notices: Material fixes may receive an “Updated” note on the page or in the change log.

User-Generated Content (Listings)

  • Responsibility: Server owners are responsible for accuracy and compliance of their listings.
  • Attribution: Votes attach to the specific listing at the time of the vote and are not transferable.
  • Appeals: Owners can appeal moderation actions through Contact with logs or credible evidence.

Accessibility & Inclusivity

  • We strive for accessible markup, keyboard navigability, color contrast, and semantic headings.
  • We support English and Spanish content where feasible.
