Mounts in MU Online do more than look cool. They make you faster, some make you hit harder, and one of them can even fly. This guide walks you through every rideable mount in the game: the Uniria, the Dinorant, the Dark Lord's Dark Horse, and the famous Fenrir wolf. You will learn how to get each one, what it is best at, and which mount is worth chasing at each stage of your character's life. We also explain how MU Online private servers change the rules, because a high-rate server can hand you a Dinorant on day one while a classic server makes you earn every ride.

Why mounts matter

A mount is a creature you ride. In MU Online, mounts do two jobs. First, they make you move faster, and speed matters everywhere: you reach hunting spots sooner, you dodge danger more easily, and you can escape a bad PvP fight (player versus player fights) instead of dying in it. Second, most mounts add a combat bonus on top, like extra damage or extra defense.

There are four rideable mounts that matter: Uniria, Dinorant, Dark Horse, and Fenrir. Each one belongs to a different stage of your character's journey, so we will cover them in that order.

Uniria: your first mount

The Uniria is the small unicorn and the first mount most players ever ride. It appears early in the game and is easy to get, so grab one as soon as you can. The speed help is modest, but early on every bit counts.

Here is the real secret though: the Uniria is also a crafting material. You need ten of them to make a Dinorant. So even after you outgrow your unicorn, keep collecting spares. Ten Unirias in your storage are a ticket to your next mount.

Dinorant: the Chaos Machine upgrade

The Dinorant is the first mount you craft yourself. You make it in the Chaos Machine, the goblin-run crafting machine in Noria that combines items into better items. The recipe is short:

  • 10 Unirias
  • 1 Jewel of Chaos (the basic crafting jewel)

Put everything in, start the combo, and hope. Like other Chaos Machine combos, it can fail, so smart players collect extra Unirias before they try. When it works, the jump is big: the Dinorant can fly, and it adds extra damage to your attacks. New to crafting? Read our Chaos Machine guide first, and check the jewels guide so you know where Jewels of Chaos come from.

Dark Horse: the Dark Lord pet

The Dark Horse is different from the others: it is a class pet, not a craft for everyone. Only the Dark Lord, the commander-style class, can ride it. The horse boosts your defense, which makes the Dark Lord much tankier, and it comes with Earthshake, a skill that slams the ground and sends nearby enemies flying.

If you play a Dark Lord, the Dark Horse is simply part of your kit and you should use it. If you play any other class, skip this section; you cannot ride it, and no recipe will change that.

Fenrir: the endgame wolf

The Fenrir is the mount everyone recognizes: a big armored wolf that marks you as a serious player. You craft it in the Chaos Machine in three separate steps, and every step can fail, so it takes farming, jewels, and patience. The reward is worth it. Fenrir gives strong run speed and even has its own attack, a plasma storm that hits enemies around you.

Fenrir also comes in versions: the Black Fenrir adds extra damage, the Blue Fenrir adds extra protection, and the Golden Fenrir is the elite version found on later seasons. The full recipe, material farming spots, and success rates are in our Fenrir crafting guide.

Which mount to chase

Match the mount to your stage. This table sums it up:

MountHow you get itBest for
UniriaEasy pickup in the early gameCheap speed while leveling
DinorantChaos Machine: 10 Unirias + Jewel of ChaosFlight and bonus damage mid game
Dark HorseDark Lord class petDefense and the Earthshake skill
Fenrir3-step Chaos Machine craftEndgame speed and the plasma storm attack

Simple plan: ride a Uniria while you level, craft a Dinorant when you have ten spares and a Jewel of Chaos, and start saving Fenrir materials once your character can hunt in harder areas. Dark Lords use the Dark Horse the whole way through. Pick Black Fenrir if you want kills, Blue Fenrir if you want to survive.

Mounts on private servers

MU Online private servers set their own rules, and that changes mount hunting a lot. On a high-rate server (fast EXP and generous drops), Unirias and jewels pile up quickly, so you might fly a Dinorant on day one. On a classic low-rate server, every mount is a real milestone that can take weeks.

The season matters too. Servers run anything from classic Season 6 up to the newest seasons, and the Golden Fenrir only exists on later seasons. Some servers also tweak Chaos Machine success rates or sell mounts in an in-game shop. Before you commit, read the server's info page in a MU Online server list and check its rates, season, and shop policy. The best MU Online private server for you is the one whose mount grind matches the time you actually have.

FAQ

Do I need to be a Dark Lord to ride a mount?

No. Only the Dark Horse is locked to the Dark Lord class. Every other mount in this guide, from the Uniria to the Fenrir, is open to you no matter which class you play. The Dark Horse is simply a bonus pet that comes with picking that class.

How many Unirias do I need for a Dinorant?

You need 10 Unirias plus 1 Jewel of Chaos, combined in the Chaos Machine in Noria. The combo can fail, so many players farm a few extra Unirias before trying. Once it succeeds, you get a mount that can fly and adds extra damage to your attacks.

Which mount can fly?

The Dinorant is the mount with flight. That is its big selling point over the Uniria: besides moving faster, you can fly, and you also gain bonus damage. Fenrir does not fly, but it makes up for it with strong run speed and its plasma storm attack.

Can Fenrir crafting fail?

Yes. Fenrir is built in three Chaos Machine steps, and each step has its own success chance, roughly 70%, 50%, and 30% on classic settings. Exact rates vary per server. Expect failures, budget spare materials, and read our Fenrir crafting guide before you start burning jewels.

Is the Golden Fenrir on every server?

No. The Golden Fenrir is the elite version that only exists on later seasons of the game. If a server runs an early season, such as Season 6, you will not see it there. Check the season number in the server list before you chase one.
