MU Online Quest Guide: Class Change Quests
A plain-English MU Online class change quest guide: the Sebina, Marlon Hero Status & Apostle Devin quests, the items you need, and the stat-point rewards.
MU Online Rehberleri 2026: sezonlar, sınıflar, PvP ve güvenli serverlar
Class change quests are how your character "evolves" -- that just means it turns into a stronger version of itself and earns permanent stat points (the points you spend to make your character better). This guide walks you through the three classic quest stages, the items you need to bring, and the rewards you get at each step. We keep the words simple so it is easy to follow.
Overview: how class change quests work in MU Online
In MU Online, your character does not just gain levels. At certain points it can finish a quest to "evolve" into a higher tier (a stronger version) of its class. People call these class change quests, class upgrades or just evolutions. They all mean the same thing.
Each one changes your character into something stronger. For example, a Dark Knight turns into a Blade Knight. You also get permanent stat points as a reward.
There are three classic stages. You start each one by talking to a certain NPC (a computer-controlled character in the game) once you hit the level you need:
- 1st evolution — given by Sebina the Priest, classically at level 150.
- Hero Status — the Marlon quest, classically at level 220.
- 3rd class change — given by Apostle Devin, classically around level 380 to 400.
Different guides use different names, which can get confusing. Some count your starting class as "1st class" and call the Sebina quest the "2nd class upgrade." In this guide we call the Sebina evolution the 1st class change and the Apostle Devin quest the 3rd class change. Do not worry about the labels too much. Just follow the in-game quest log (the to-do list inside the game that shows your active quests).
Most stages cost Zen (the in-game gold you collect from monsters) and need special items that drop when you kill certain monsters. Because of that, it helps to read a Zen farming guide and the leveling guide first.
One quick warning before we start. The levels, Zen costs, drop maps and stat rewards below are the classic Webzen defaults. Webzen is the company that made MU Online, and "classic default" means the original settings. Private servers (fan-run copies of the game) often change these numbers. So treat every number here as a starting point and double-check it on your own server.
1st class change: Sebina the Priest (level 150)
Your first evolution comes from Sebina the Priest. You find her in the town of Devias at the spot (183, 32) -- those are the map coordinates, like a grid reference. Classically you need level 150 and about 3,000,000 Zen in total. The quest has two parts.
Part 1: Find the Scroll of Emperor
The first task is to bring Sebina the Scroll of Emperor. This item classically drops in the maps Dungeon, Lost Tower and Atlans, so go hunt monsters there until one drops it. Handing it over costs about 1,000,000 Zen and gives you +10 stat points.
Part 2: The Three Treasures (Tribal task)
The second task asks for a class-specific item, meaning the exact item is different for each class. This part classically costs about 2,000,000 Zen and gives another +10 stat points, plus the evolution itself. So the full Sebina quest hands you +20 stat points in total. The item you need depends on your class, and these drop in Atlans, Lost Tower and Tarkan.
| Base class | Part 2 item | Evolves into |
|---|---|---|
| Dark Knight | Broken Sword | Blade Knight |
| Fairy Elf | Tear of Elf | Muse Elf |
| Dark Wizard | Soul of Wizard | Soul Master |
| Summoner | Abyssal Eye | Bloody Summoner |
Some classes are "pre-evolved," which means they already start in a stronger form. Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord, Rage Fighter and Grow Lancer do not take the Sebina quest at all, because they have no basic form to upgrade from. Newer classes have their own path too. Check the classes guide to see where your character fits.
Hero Status: the Marlon quest (level 220)
The second big step is Hero Status. Most people call it the Marlon quest, named after the NPC who gives it. Marlon is a church guard who walks around, so you can find him in towns like Lorencia, Noria, Devias and Atlans. Classically you need level 220 and 3,000,000 Zen.
You must bring him the Ring of Honor. In some older versions of the game it is called the Ring of Glory, but it is the exact same item, not two different rings. It classically drops from mid-level monsters in maps like Tarkan, Icarus, Aida, Kanturu and Land of Trials.
Here is the reward for Hero Status. From then on, your character earns 1 extra stat point every level. You also get 1 extra point for each level you already passed after 220. On many servers a character normally gets 5 points per level, so this turns it into the famous "6 points per level" upgrade. The starting number can be different from one server to another.
On many modern servers, Hero Status is also something you must finish before you can do the 3rd class change. In other words, it is a step you cannot skip. So do it as soon as you reach the level you need. Some classes get to this quest in a different way or have limits, so check your own quest log instead of guessing.
Special follow-up: the Dark Stone quest (Blade Knight only)
This one is not a class change, but it comes right after Hero Status, so it is worth knowing about. The Dark Stone quest is only for Blade Knights. After you finish Hero Status, a Blade Knight at level 220 can spend about 2,000,000 Zen to get the Dark Stone. This unlocks the strong Combo skill, a special attack that chains several hits together.
Finishing it does not change your class. It only unlocks the Combo skill. The Dark Stone drops in the same maps as the Ring of Honor, so you can farm both at once. Whether it exists depends on the version you play. Some older notes link it to certain seasons (versions of the game) or to non-Global clients, so make sure it is on your server before you go farming for it.
You might also hear about the Wizard's Soul Shard (sometimes called "Soul Shard of Wizard"). It is a treasure item linked to the Dark Wizard and Soul Master story. What it actually does in a quest changes a lot from season to season, so treat it as version-dependent and check it before you assume it is part of any class change.
3rd class change: Apostle Devin (level 380 to 400)
The last classic evolution is the 3rd class change. You get it from Apostle Devin in the map Crywolf at (228, 48). Classically you start it at level 380 and finish at level 400. Until the quest is done, your character is usually stuck at level 400 and cannot go higher (this is called a level cap).
Stage 1: Evidence of Strength
The first stage asks you to gather three boss-drop items, classically:
| Item | Dropped by / map |
|---|---|
| Flame of Death Beam Knight | Tarkan |
| Horn of Hell Maine | Aida |
| Feather of Dark Phoenix | Icarus |
Later stages: hunting and a final boss
After that, the quest sends you to kill Trainee-Soldier monsters. For example, 20 each of Balram, Death Spirit and Soram (the exact number you must kill can change). Then you fight a final Dark Elf boss. Finishing the whole chain classically gives you about +60 stat points, unlocks the Master Skill Tree (an extra set of skills you open up after level 400), and gives you Level 3 wings (upgraded wings that let you fly and boost your stats). To get ready, read the Master Level guide and the wings guide.
Each class gets its own name at the 3rd tier. For example, a Blade Knight becomes a Blade Master, a Soul Master becomes a Grand Master, and a Muse Elf becomes a High Elf. The other classes work the same way, each with its own new name.
Stat-point rewards and version differences
Here is a quick summary of what each classic stage gives you. It shows how your character grows stronger across the whole journey at a glance:
| Stage | NPC | Classic level | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st class change | Sebina the Priest (Devias) | 150 | +20 stat points & evolution |
| Hero Status | Marlon (roaming) | 220 | +1 stat point per level, ongoing |
| Dark Stone (Blade Knight) | (skill unlock) | 220 | Combo skill |
| 3rd class change | Apostle Devin (Crywolf) | 380–400 | ~+60 points, Master Tree, Lv3 wings |
What usually stays the same
- The three NPCs and the rough order of the quests
- The class evolution names (Blade Knight, Soul Master, and so on)
- The fact that each stage gives you permanent stat points
- The class-specific items you need for the Sebina quest
What often changes from server to server
- The level you need to start (many servers lower or remove level 150)
- Zen costs, and whether the two parts are joined into one
- The exact number of stat points and how many monsters you kill
- The drop maps and how often quest items drop
Two things trip players up. First, the Ring of Honor and Ring of Glory are the same item with two names. Second, the 1st versus 2nd numbering mix-up we explained at the top. Newer classes -- Slayer, Gun Crusher, Light Wizard, Rune/Lemuria Mage, Illusion Knight, Alchemist and more -- also have their own evolution names and their own item lists, and these change from season to season. Check the class tier list (a ranking of which classes are strongest) and your server's wiki (its info site).
The bottom line is simple. Use this guide to learn what each quest does and why it matters, then trust the in-game quest log for the exact numbers. Frequently asked questions
What level do I need for the first class change quest?
Classically you need level 150 to start the Sebina the Priest evolution quest in Devias. That is the official Webzen setting (the original one). Many private servers lower the level, remove it, or join the two parts into one. So check your own server's quest log before you grind for the items. ("Grind" just means killing monsters over and over to get drops or levels.)
Why does my character skip the Sebina quest?
Some classes are "pre-evolved," which means they already start in a stronger form with no basic version to upgrade. Those classes do not take the Sebina quest. This includes Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord, Rage Fighter and Grow Lancer. Newer classes have their own paths instead. Your in-game quest list only shows the quests that fit your class, so do not worry if a quest is missing for you.
Is the Ring of Honor the same as the Ring of Glory?
Yes. Ring of Honor (the newer name) and Ring of Glory (an older name) are the exact same item. You use it for Marlon's Hero Status quest. They are not two separate rings. If one guide says one name and your game shows the other, you are still hunting for the same drop.
What does the Hero Status quest actually give me?
After you finish Hero Status with Marlon at level 220, your character earns 1 extra stat point per level from then on. You also get bonus points for any levels you already passed after 220 (that is what "retroactive" means -- it pays you back). On servers where you normally get 5 points per level, this becomes the famous "6 points per level" upgrade.
Is the Dark Stone quest a class change?
No. The Dark Stone quest is only for Blade Knights and it unlocks the Combo skill. It does not change your class. You can do it after Hero Status at level 220. Whether it exists depends on your game version, so make sure it is on your server before you farm the Dark Stone.
Why is my character stuck at level 400?
The 3rd class change from Apostle Devin in Crywolf classically holds you at level 400 until you finish the quest. You start it at level 380 and finish at 400. Once it is done, the cap is removed and you unlock the Master Skill Tree and Level 3 wings. The exact level rules can be different on private servers.
