Goal of the Game (Simple)

EVE is a sandbox about risk vs. reward, player economy, and social engineering. Survive, specialize, and scale your impact—from solo exploration to alliance wars—by learning systems, avoiding traps, and flying with a corp.

Stay alive & avoid traps

Set overview safely, learn d-scan, don’t autopilot valuables, beware of scams.

Earn your first ISK

Run Career Agents & SOE arc, explore, do missions, mine, or trade small.

Skill plan & ship progression

Train core fitting skills; move from T1 frigates → destroyers → cruisers.

Join a corporation

Access fleets, mentorship, ship replacement programs, and group content.

Find your niche

Wormholes, nullsec, industry, FW, incursions—EVE rewards specialization.

Tip: Do Career Agents first, then the SOE Epic Arc for safe practice and ISK.

Beginner-Friendly Careers

Pick one to start—skills and ISK carry across characters in your account strategy.

Your First 60 Minutes

Set a safe overview preset

Hide drones/wrecks if noisy; show hostiles/scrams smartly; save your preset.

Learn D-Scan & Local

Directional scanner for threats; watch Local for spikes/gankers.

Fit properly (one tank type)

Shield or armor—never both. Use the right rigs, resist mods, and power grid.

Align, warp, and bookmark

Make insta-dock/undock bookmarks; never autopilot with valuables.

Insurance & clones

Insure ships you’ll lose; update medical clone and set your home station.

Keybinds & camera

Bind D-Scan, approach, orbit, keep at range, overheat toggles.

Day-1 Route

  1. Finish Career Agents; keep the free ships/modules.
  2. Start the SOE Epic Arc to practice travel, combat, and fittings.
  3. Create insta-dock/undock bookmarks for your hub.
  4. Join a corp and attend a newbie fleet; ask about SRP.

Progression Path

Ships & Fittings Roadmap

Frigates (T1)

Cheap and agile; perfect for exploration, tackle, and early missions.

Destroyers

Glass cannons; great for faster Level 1–2 missions and certain PvE sites.

Cruisers (T1)

Durable baseline for L2–3 missions, exploration combat sites, and logistics hulls.

T2 Modules & Skills

Train core fitting, weapon, tank, and capacitor to use T2 fits gradually.

Specialized Hulls

Faction/T2 ships for exploration, logistics, interdiction, or null/WH roles.

Rule of thumb: fly what you can afford to lose. Train into T2 modules gradually and keep fits role-appropriate.

Glossary (Plain English)

ISK

Interstellar Kredits — in-game currency.

Fit

Your ship’s modules/rigs/ammo; a “fit” follows role-specific principles.

Tank (Shield/Armor)

Your defensive setup. Don’t mix both; focus on one with proper resistances.

D-Scan

Directional Scanner to locate or avoid players and sites.

Tackle / Scram / Point

Modules that prevent warping; tacklers pin targets for fleets.

Gate Camp

Players camping a stargate to kill travelers.

Gank

Unexpected high-DPS ambush, often in highsec; CONCORD will punish but not save the target.

Highsec / Lowsec / Nullsec / WH

Security bands: safer to most dangerous; WH = wormholes with no Local.

Overview

Filterable list of objects/ships in space; critical for survival.

SRP

Ship Replacement Program—corp/alliance reimburses certain fleet losses.

EVE Online FAQ

Can I play EVE solo?

Yes, but EVE shines in groups. Solo exploration, missions, and trading work; fleets multiply learning and income.

What should I fly first?

T1 frigates. They’re cheap, agile, and perfect for exploration or tackle roles.

How do I not get ganked?

Don’t autopilot valuables, use insta-dock/undock bookmarks, watch Local, and scout dangerous pipes.

Omega vs Alpha?

Alpha is free with restricted skills/ships; Omega unlocks faster training and broader hulls/modules.

Best way to make ISK early?

Career Agents → SOE arc → Exploration or L2 missions; or station trading with small capital.
