Start with the 2026 gameplay promise: version, rate, region, launch date, moderation quality and whether the owner explains the server clearly. A useful listing should show concrete facts instead of copied directory text, fake vote claims or generic “best server” slogans.
Aion Online communities split along a few clear lines. The first is version. Classic servers (1.9 or 2.7) bring back the slow, old-school Aion where every level matters, and 4.6 or 4.8 servers are loved for balanced classes before the 5.0 power creep, when gear numbers exploded. The second line is rates: low-rate servers keep the long grind, while instant-endgame servers skip it so you can fight in the Abyss (the big war zone where Elyos and Asmodians battle for fortresses) right away. The third is shop policy, which decides whether real money can buy power.
If you are new, pick a 4.6 or 4.8 server with medium rates first. Those versions have fair class balance, and medium rates let you learn your class before endgame. Classes branch at level 10: Warrior, Scout, Mage, or Priest each split into two paths, like Mage into Sorcerer or Spiritmaster. Try a Cleric or Chanter if you want groups to invite you, since healers and support are always wanted. Learn your stigmas (socketed stones that add skills) as you go.
Before you commit, check the health signals on the listing. Steady votes over weeks beat a one-day spike. A recent opening date means a fresh economy. An owner who lists exact rates and event plans is usually running a server that lasts.
