How to understand L2 communities

Start with the 2026 gameplay promise: chronicle, xp rate, region, launch date, moderation quality and whether the owner explains the server clearly. A useful listing should show concrete facts instead of copied directory text, fake vote claims or generic “best server” slogans.

Lineage 2 servers split along a few clear lines. The first is the Chronicle, the game version: Interlude is the nostalgic favorite for PvP (player versus player combat), High Five is the most complete classic-era version, and Classic and Essence are the newer official-style branches. The second is the rate: x1-x5 low rate means a long grind and a strong economy, x10-x50 is mid, and x100+ means fast gear and early PvP. The third is how you get that gear: craft servers make you earn it through the spoil and craft economy (materials drop and crafters build equipment), while GM-shop PvP servers hand gear out so fights start right away.

If you are new, keep it simple. Pick a well-known Chronicle like Interlude or High Five, because guides for them are everywhere. Choose a mid rate around x10-x50: you level fast enough to stay hooked, but still get to learn classes, clans, and the Olympiad (a monthly competition that crowns Heroes). A server with a recent opening date helps too, since everyone around you starts fresh at the same time.

Finally, read the health signals. Steady votes, a clear opening date, active sieges and events, and honest owner text usually point to a server that will still be alive next month.
