MU Top 100 — How Our MU Online Rankings Work
This in-depth guide explains our ranking methodology: how voting is processed, how we detect and discount abuse, when resets occur, what makes a listing eligible, and how to improve visibility responsibly. If you’re ready to play, jump to Top MU Online Servers or see upcoming Grand Openings.
Methodology Overview
MU Top 100 highlights active, trusted MU Online worlds. Rankings reflect community demand, adjusted by automated checks that reduce manipulation. Sponsored placements are clearly labeled and do not override community rank order.
- Community-driven: Votes from real players determine rank order.
- Quality safeguards: Automated and manual reviews remove fraudulent patterns.
- Freshness: Totals reset on the first day of each calendar month.
- Transparency: Sponsored inventory is separated from organic positions.
We continually tune signals to keep results fair. Specific thresholds and weightings are private to protect the system from gaming.
Voting Model
Players can vote periodically for worlds they actually play. We encourage legitimate voting from server communities and in-game reminders; artificial traffic or mass scripted voting is discounted or removed.
- Unique votes: Rate-limits prevent the same device/session from stacking votes unnaturally.
- Attribution: Votes are tied to the target listing at the time of the vote and cannot be transferred to another listing.
- Visibility, not rank distortion: Optional upgrades may affect placement visibility (slots/labels) but never change organic rank order.
Integrity & Abuse Prevention
Our anti-abuse stack flags and reduces suspicious behavior while protecting legitimate communities. We combine per-device/session controls with behavioral and traffic anomaly detection.
- Throttling: Practical limits per device/session reduce automated submissions.
- Behavioral signals: Unusual spike timing, copy-paste traffic, or uniform fingerprints are discounted.
- Network signals: Rapid voting from the same subnet, datacenter ranges, or known automation sources are limited.
- Manual review: Edge patterns are queued for a human pass; penalties are reversible upon successful appeal.
Monthly Resets
Vote totals reset on the first day of each calendar month. Resets keep results current, give new worlds a chance to surface, and prevent stale momentum from dominating long-term.
- Continuity: Resetting totals never erases a listing—only monthly vote counts.
- Seasonality: Listings can trend up or down naturally with launches, events, and updates.
Eligibility & Listing Quality
Eligible listings are publicly accessible, accurately described, and actively moderated. We may pause or remove listings that are unreachable, unsafe, or misleading.
- Accurate metadata: Version/season, EXP rates, wipes/resets, region, and tags must reflect reality.
- Live presence: Public site or hub with rules, support contacts, and updates.
- Brand safety: No malicious downloads, deceptive content, or harassment.
- Uptime: Extended downtime or abandonment can limit visibility until fixed.
Sponsored Disclosure
MU Top 100 is funded in part by clearly labeled sponsorships. Sponsored slots improve visibility via placement or badges but never change organic ranking positions determined by community voting.
Pause / Delisting & Appeals
We may pause or delist a world for prolonged inactivity, unreachable websites, repeated vote abuse, or misleading claims. If you believe a decision was in error, contact support with details and logs. We review appeals promptly and restore listings when issues are resolved.
How to Rank Better (Legitimately)
- Tell the truth, clearly: Post season/version, rates, wipes, and playstyle in the first screenful.
- Mobilize real players: Remind after major activities (Siege, events). Add a vote button in your site/Discord.
- Keep uptime high: Clear maintenance windows and fast patching protect momentum.
- Use the right tags: Example: “Non-Reset”, “x100 Mid-rate”, “PvP Weekly”, “Global”.
- Run community events: Give players reasons to return weekly; consistent activity compounds votes.
